Self Portrait Challenge~POP ART (the invisible woman)
The Invisible Woman
Sometimes I feel invisible
Like I'm in someone else's dream
Sometimes I feel invisible
An outsider on the team
Sometimes I feel invisible
just swallowed up in fear
Sometimes I feel invisible
When I can feel others are near
Sometimes I am invisible
Doing everything for others
Sometimes I am invisible
Among all other mothers
Sometimes I am invisible
though I am told I am not
I try to speak but am silenced
Or that's how I was taught
Sometimes I try to surface
And scream out, "I AM HERE"
But I am silenced by the noise
in someone elses ear.

Loved your SPT entry and the poem.
Hi Lia, such a beautiful poem. Yes there are times in every ones life when they feel invisable. In reality your any thing but. Your beautiful, your a wonderful loveing wife and mommy, mother, your a talented artist, who can not only do art but write like an angel. Your a great friend to many. Its fun looking at your art and life and you share not only what your up to, but what your friends are doing. Thank you, hugs Lynnette April.
I really like this - It speaks volumes!
And your room-redo is absolutely fabulous!!!!
Lia:
The poem you did today is just so perfect. I, too, think I'm an invisible woman but for different reasons....the older I get the more invisible I become! I'm still me....I can be funny, or I can talk to people on all kinds of subjects, I can even be rather entertaining at times....but no one cares. Once I hit a certain age I began noticing that people didn't pay attention to me as much as before. It's a sad fact of life in this country but the older generations are mostly ignored.
Your poem is going up on my wall, and I also like the shadowy, hazy photo that accompanies it. You certainly captured the feeling.
On the room re-do....I like the curtains, and the artwork you have framed. I think it looks peaceful and calm.

Very well expressed and I can identify with this.
Most eloquent.
When one begins to feel like wallpaper, time for a timeout.
Take time for yourself. It's not selfish, it is only sensible and you deserve it.
Lia I cannot see you but you are NOT invisible to me - your art and words speak loud to me. Judy xxxx
The picture is such a perfect illustration of the words. Wonderful. And maybe the words are universal - at least at points in our lives.
Just found you through spc site.
I love this picture and the poem moved me-I feel this way too sometimes.
Have you thought about contributing over at Poetry Thursday?
I am sure a lot of people would enjoy your poetry.
I can totally relate to being invidible among other mothers. It's weird how being on the outside of a conversation about sleeping habits of five year olds can take you right back to that feeling you got in high school. You may or may not know the one. Right before the bell rings and everyone is chatting but your just sitting there trying to look totally disinterested in everything, but really your screaming to have the same lame conversation.
